RIU Mexico Value Group Getaway
Mexico
RIU is the value all-inclusive with a very wide footprint — Cancún, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos and Vallarta in Mexico, Punta Cana, Jamaica, Aruba and more in the Caribbean — known for large beachfront resorts, swim-up bars, splash parks at the family properties and a price that lets a big group come along. Adults-only RIU Palace and Riu Adults Only properties sit beside family resorts at several destinations.

Our take
RIU is the resort we quote when the group is large, the budget is real, and nobody needs butler service — it delivers a big beach, big pools, plenty of food and drink, and a price that a family of five or a group of twenty can live with. Expect scale and liveliness rather than polish; the adults-only RIU Palace properties are the step up. It is the brand we quote first for family reunions on a budget.

The real cost of this trip
The “from” price is the operator's land-only rate. This is what sits on top of it, so the number you budget is the number you pay.
| Flights and transfers | Flights from South Florida are extra; transfers depend on the package. |
| Premium extras | Spa, some premium spirits and motorized water sports are extra. |
| Flights | Not included; Mexico and the Caribbean are two to three hours from Fort Lauderdale and Miami. |
| Airport transfers | Included at some brands (Sandals and Beaches), extra at most; we build them into the package. |
| Room tier | The 'from' rate is the entry room; swim-up, butler and oceanfront rooms cost more and change the experience. |
| Spa, premium spirits, motorized water sports | Extra at nearly every all-inclusive. |
| Travel protection | Not included; hurricane-season trips especially warrant it. |
| Gratuities | Included at some brands (Sandals), customary and extra at most. |

Questions we get about this trip
Is RIU too basic?
It is a value brand, and it feels like one: big buffets, crowded pools in peak weeks, functional rooms. The RIU Palace properties are noticeably better and still cheaper than the premium brands. We match the tier to the group.
Which destination?
Cancún and Riviera Maya are the easiest flights from Florida; Punta Cana and Jamaica are close; Aruba is calmer. Several RIUs sit side by side at each, so we pick the specific resort.
Does it work for a reunion?
Yes — it is the brand we quote first for budget-conscious family reunions. Group rates apply from 8 rooms.
How far ahead should we book?
Holiday weeks and spring break book a year out; most other weeks can be booked three to six months ahead. Group room blocks need the earliest start.
What if we need to cancel?
Resort terms vary and hurricane-season clauses differ by brand; we show you the exact terms before you commit.
Cancellation policy
Most all-inclusive packages: full refund 60+ days out, 50% credit 59-30 days, no refund inside 30 days. Hurricane/tropical-storm clauses vary by supplier — read specific terms. Insurance with cancel-for-any-reason upgrade strongly recommended for hurricane-season bookings (Jun-Nov).
Documents needed
Valid passport book (6+ months past return) required for Mexico, Caribbean, Central America. Birth certificate + photo ID accepted on closed-loop US cruises only — flights need a passport. No visa for US citizens for typical destinations; Cuba is the exception (special tourist card required).
