The genuinely local part of a South Florida trip: where you leave from, and what it costs to get there.
Port Everglades
Thirty to forty minutes from most of Broward. Parking runs $20 a day at the port garages, so a seven-night sailing is about $160 in parking alone — which is why a drop-off usually beats driving yourself, unless the party is big enough to need a van anyway.
PortMiami
Forty-five minutes to an hour from north Broward, longer on an embarkation Saturday. Worth checking before you compare fares: an itinerary is not always named after the port it leaves from, and an extra hour in the car costs more than most price differences save.
Port Canaveral
About three hours, which makes it a drive-up-the-night-before decision rather than a morning-of one. Most of the sailings we book there get a few Orlando days attached to the front end.
