Our take
For the price, this is one of the strongest history itineraries Globus runs anywhere: Byzantine and Ottoman Istanbul, then a loop that lands on Troy, Pergamon, Ephesus and Hierapolis. It is a driving tour — five of the eight days are driving days of up to 273 miles — and Globus specifically warns that Ephesus's uneven terrain is hard for guests with mobility limits. Go for the sites, not for the resorts; the coast is passed, not stayed on.
Highlights
- 5 UNESCO World Heritage sites on the route: Archaeological Site of Troy, Ephesus, Hierapolis-Pamukkale, Historic Areas of Istanbul, Pergamon and its Multi-Layered Cultural Landscape
- Visit to the Great Ottoman Mosque (Ulu Camii) of Bursa, plus the Historical Covered Bazaar, and the Silk Market with Kestane Sekeri tasting
- Guided sightseeing of Istanbul’s highlights featuring visits to the Roman Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace
- 7 nights in listed hotels, 7 breakfasts, 5 dinners, Tour Director throughout
- 8 departures currently open across 2027, from $2,099 per person, land only — flights from home not included
Who this trip suits
- History and archaeology travelers — five UNESCO sites in a week
- Value-minded travelers; it is among the lowest-priced escorted tours in the catalog
- Couples and friends comfortable with long coach days for big payoffs
- Anyone who wants Istanbul plus the Aegean without a domestic flight
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone with mobility limits — Ephesus and Pamukkale are uneven and exposed
- Travelers who dislike long driving days; Day 6 is 273 miles
- People wanting Cappadocia — it is not on this route (ask us about Globus's Turkey tours that include it)
- Those looking for beach time

Questions we get about this trip
Is airfare included?
No. Every price on this page is land-only. We quote flights from Fort Lauderdale or Miami with your dates, and Globus can add airport transfers when the air is on their booking.
Is Cappadocia included?
No. This is Istanbul plus the Aegean coast. Globus runs longer Turkey itineraries that add Cappadocia; ask us to compare.
What are entry requirements?
Turkey's rules for U.S. passport holders have changed in recent years; we confirm the current visa or e-visa requirement when you book rather than guess.
How much walking is there?
Globus's own note: The uneven terrain of Ephesus' archaeological sites may pose a challenge to guests with physical limitations or reliant on mobility devices such as wheelchairs. If that is a concern, tell us before you commit and we will talk it through rather than hope for the best.
Which dates are cheapest?
Prices vary by departure — the dates table on this page is read from Globus's own feed, so what you see is current. Shoulder-season departures are usually the lower-priced ones; any Small Group departures cost more.
What if we need to cancel?
Globus's published terms apply and the fee schedule depends on the departure and whether air is booked through them. We link the terms rather than restate them, and we walk you through the exact figures on your reservation before you pay a deposit.
Cancellation policy
Globus' published Travel Terms & Conditions apply. Deposit amounts, final payment dates and the cancellation fee schedule vary by product and departure date, and differ again for air booked through Globus; the exact figures are confirmed on your reservation. Full terms: globusjourneys.com/terms
