Our take
Rome rewards wandering, and this package gives you a good central hotel, one guided walk to get your bearings, and a Local Host for the rest. It is the lowest-priced package we currently list and a natural add-on before or after Southern Italy or a Mediterranean cruise from Civitavecchia. The Vatican and the Colosseum are not included in the base package — they are optional excursions — which surprises people.

Is the Vatican included?
No. Day 2's walking tour covers the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona. St. Peter's, the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum are optional excursions we can pre-book with skip-the-line entry.
Can we add this to a cruise?
Yes. Civitavecchia is about 90 minutes away and many Mediterranean sailings start there; we arrange the transfer.
How much walking is there?
Expect a lot of walking on your own — city stays are on foot, on cobbles and steps. If that is a concern, tell us before you commit and we will talk it through rather than hope for the best.
Which dates are cheapest?
Prices vary by departure — the dates table on this page is read from Globus's own feed, so what you see is current. Shoulder-season departures are usually the lower-priced ones; any Small Group departures cost more.
