Why is Gate 1 cheaper?
Hotels are a category below the premium brands, fewer meals are included, and groups can be larger. The guided structure is the same.
Is Costa Rica better escorted or independent?
Either works; escorted removes the mountain driving and the lodge-to-lodge transfers, which is what people underestimate. Globus's Independent Costa Rica package is the no-group alternative we also sell.
Does it include flights?
Gate 1 often sells air-inclusive packages; we compare them with booking air separately from Fort Lauderdale or Miami.
How far ahead should we book?
Popular departures fill six to nine months out; single rooms and small-group series go first.
What if we need to cancel?
The operator's terms apply and depend on the departure; we walk you through them before you pay a deposit.
Cancellation policy
Most escorted tour fares: deposit refundable up to 90 days, sliding cancellation 89-60 days (typically 50% by 60 days), no refund inside 60 days. Some premium brands require non-refundable deposits earlier. Insurance with cancel-for-any-reason highly recommended.
Documents needed
Valid passport book (6+ months past return) required for Mexico, Caribbean, Central America. Birth certificate + photo ID accepted on closed-loop US cruises only — flights need a passport. No visa for US citizens for typical destinations; Cuba is the exception (special tourist card required).
