Collette Guided Italy Discovery 10-Day
Italy
Collette has run guided tours since 1918 and covers all seven continents, with Italy among its deepest programs. Tours come with a tour manager throughout, hotels and coach travel arranged, entrance fees to listed sites, local guides at the major stops and — on many U.S. departures — sedan service between your home and the airport, which for a Parkland traveler removes the most annoying part of the day.

Our take
Collette is the operator we suggest when a client wants a classic escorted tour with a very well-run back office — the home-to-airport sedan service is the kind of detail that shows how the rest of the trip is run. Italy is a natural first Collette tour; the same format takes you to Iceland, Japan or South Africa. The style is traditional: a full-size group, a full itinerary, a tour manager who handles everything. Travelers who want small groups should ask about the Explorations departures.

The real cost of this trip
The “from” price is the operator's land-only rate. This is what sits on top of it, so the number you budget is the number you pay.
| Flights | Collette sells air with its tours; we compare it with booking separately. |
| Tips | Tour manager, driver and local guide gratuities are extra. |
| Meals not covered | Most operators include breakfasts and some dinners; budget for the rest. |
| Optional excursions | Offered on free days and priced separately. |
| Travel protection | Not included. We recommend it and quote it with the tour. |
| Solo travelers | A single supplement applies unless waived on a specific departure. |

Questions we get about this trip
How is Collette different from Globus?
Similar format — tour manager, coach, hotels, guided sightseeing. Collette adds sedan service to the airport on many departures and tends to include more meals; Globus is usually a little cheaper. We compare specific tours.
What are Explorations tours?
Collette's small-group series with fewer travelers and more hands-on experiences, at a higher price per person.
Do we need a visa for Italy?
Not currently for U.S. passport holders on a short stay; the EU's new entry system may add an online authorization — we confirm the current rule when you book.
How far ahead should we book?
Popular departures fill six to nine months out; single rooms and small-group series go first.
What if we need to cancel?
The operator's terms apply and depend on the departure; we walk you through them before you pay a deposit.
Cancellation policy
Most escorted tour fares: deposit refundable up to 90 days, sliding cancellation 89-60 days (typically 50% by 60 days), no refund inside 60 days. Some premium brands require non-refundable deposits earlier. Insurance with cancel-for-any-reason highly recommended.
Documents needed
Valid passport (6+ months past return). Most European/UK tours visa-free for US citizens; Russia, India, China, Vietnam, Egypt, and a few other destinations require visa — supplier provides packet 90+ days prior. ETA/eTA may be required for UK, Australia, Canada (electronic, USD 10-20).
